Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Evidence-based care for anxiety, OCD, and related concerns.

Dr. Natalie Arnette is a licensed clinical psychologist offering Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and diagnostic evaluation for adolescents and adults.

About Dr. Arnette

A careful, collaborative approach to cognitive-behavioral care.

Most clients come to this practice because anxiety, intrusive thoughts, persistent habits, or low mood have begun to narrow their lives — and they want a way through that is structured, time-limited, and grounded in evidence.

Treatment begins with a thorough diagnostic interview. From there, Dr. Arnette works with each client — and, when appropriate, their family — to clarify the concern, set concrete goals, and build a plan tailored to how they actually live. Change, in her view, comes from a clearer understanding of the relationship between thoughts, behaviors, and feelings, and from practicing new responses until they feel ordinary.

She draws primarily on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, including Exposure with Response Prevention, and incorporates techniques from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy when they fit the work at hand.

Insurance & Payment

Out-of-network, with support for reimbursement.

Dr. Arnette does not participate in insurance panels. Many clients with out-of-network benefits receive partial reimbursement for sessions after meeting their deductible.

Upon request, clients can be provided a superbill — an itemized statement with the diagnostic and procedure codes most plans require — that can be submitted directly to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement. Dr. Arnette is happy to discuss what questions to ask your plan before beginning treatment.

Under the federal No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or who choose not to use insurance are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services. One will be provided at the start of care, and at any time on request.

Patient Forms

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy?

CBT is a short-term, active approach that targets the relationship between thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. Sessions include practicing new skills; between sessions, clients put those skills to work in the situations that matter to them. For most of the concerns treated in this practice, CBT is among the most studied and effective treatments available.

What is Exposure with Response Prevention?

ERP is a specific form of CBT in which a client systematically and safely approaches the situations, thoughts, or sensations that cause anxiety, while learning not to engage in the avoidance or compulsive behaviors that normally follow. It is considered first-line treatment for OCD and is central to effective care for many anxiety disorders.

How long does treatment usually take?

Length of care varies with the presenting concern, co-occurring issues, and the goals set during the initial evaluation. Dr. Arnette will discuss an anticipated course of treatment at the end of the first or second session.

What happens at the first appointment?

The first appointment is a diagnostic evaluation — focused questions about your current concerns, relevant history, and what you would like to change. You will leave with a shared understanding of what is going on and a recommended plan, which may be CBT here, a referral for additional evaluation, or coordination with a prescribing provider.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Sessions are available in person or via a secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. Fit for telehealth is confirmed at the intake call.

Do you accept insurance?

This is an out-of-network practice. See the Insurance section above for how superbills and reimbursement work.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. As a clinical psychologist, Dr. Arnette does not prescribe. When medication is part of a client's care, she collaborates closely with the prescribing physician or psychiatrist.

Is what I share kept confidential?

Yes. Communications are protected by state and federal law, with the narrow exceptions that apply to all licensed psychologists — concerns about imminent harm to self or others, suspected abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, and valid court orders. These are reviewed in detail at the first appointment.

Do you see children?

Dr. Arnette works with adolescents and adults. For younger children, she is glad to offer referrals to trusted colleagues who specialize in pediatric care.
